Yesterday or Today

Depending on where you live, May 8th or May 9th is V-Day, the 51st anniversary of Germany's surrender in World War 2. The U.S. media has devoted absolutely zero time to this fact, which is a travesty. I think it is very important that people should take some time to reflect. It seems very clear to me that in 51 short years we have already forgotten the lessons that Nazism, fascism, and the death of so many innocents were supposed to teach us.

Incidentally, Dartmouth has invited Elie Wiesel to be our commencement speaker for 2006. An excellent choice.
